CAJUN FRIED OYSTERS that are easy to make

This simple recipe for Fried Oysters, with a Cajun flavor twist, will be the one you keep going back to, over and over.

It gives you the basic cooking process that you need to make these succulent treats consistently, and the courage to adjust the ingredients to make it your own.

A simple recipe for CAJUN Fried Oysters

Sometimes you will just get a taste for something special in your mind.

A taste for something that you have eaten before, somewhere, but you have never actually prepared yourself.

The idea grows in your head and eventually you just have to make the dish, and make it soon!

But, you realize that you have never cooked this food before, and are at a loss as to how to start.

So, you break out your best cookbooks and find all kinds of fancy possibilities, with all kinds of exotic ingredients and complex preparation methods.

But, all you really wanted was a straightforward recipe to enjoy, that tastes like what you ate that time you stopped in a roadside restaurant in Louisiana for lunch.

That day, they served you the best Fried Oysters you had ever eaten, on a chipped cafe plate, with a side of Grits, and all you had was a cup of scalding coffee to wash it down.

You asked for the recipe, and the waitress just laughed and said;

"Hell, Joe Bob don't use no recipe, he just fries 'em up, just like the Boss taught him, Honey!

If you want some special recipe, then you better go to one of them fancy restaurants over in'Orleans. They can probably sell you a cookbook written by some famous Chef.

Won't be as good as ours though!"

Well, here is one great recipe for your Simple Recipe collection, that I picked up from a cook in Louisiana near New Orleans. You will love it, because it is just a nice simple way to cook Fried Oysters with a little Cajun style spicy kick.

INGREDIENTS

1 dozen large fresh Oysters (in juice)

1/3 cup Flour1 tsp. Butter, melted

4 tbs. water, warm

1 large Egg, beaten

1/2 tsp. Salt

1 tsp. Pepper

1 tbs. Hot Sauce

DIRECTIONS

1. Place two tablespoons of water, the Oysters and their Juice from the container into a saucepan.

2. Add the Hot Sauce and heat, stirring constantly, until a Boil just starts and immediately remove the pan from the heat and let sit for at least 5-minutes.

3. Combine all of the other ingredients in a bowl and mix into a nice smooth batter.

4. Using a cooking oil or preferably fat, heat enough oil to cover at least half of the thickness of a battered Oyster in a frying pan, until a drop of water will dance on the oil.

5. Batter the Oysters, and carefully drop them into the hot oil, taking care not to crowd them.

6. Cook the Oysters until a Golden Brown on one side and then turn and repeat for the other side.

7. Remove the Oysters from the oil, place on a paper towel, to remove excess oil, and serve hot.

NOTES to the CHEF

NOTE: Place a drop of your favorite Hot Sauce on each Oyster before serving if you really like them a little more spicy.

NOTE: To make this recipe your own, the Batter mixture is a good place to add your favorite spices such as; Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Sage, Thyme, or whatever you might like. Experiment!

NOTE: The recipe can be doubled easily.

NOTE: Keep the Grease HOT! Keep the Grease HOT! Keep the Grease HOT!

I can't stress this enough, take care to keep the grease HOT while cooking the Oysters, and again do not crowd them together in the pan

A dozen oysters won't do. I have priors and could consume a dozen in no time. I don't share. I could extend a great recipe/cooking experience by driving my truck to Oregon (I'm in Northern California) and visiting an oyster farm. Hmmmm. I could enjoy the recipe and the surroundings at the same time. YUM. People who don't eat oysters don't know what they're missing. More for me. Voted up and bookmarked!

Thanks Arlene, fir the comment. And you are right a dozen of these tasty treats is not enough. And, if you keep that grease hot and the batter thin, you will have one of the best foods you can eat. YUM yourself! I live in Tampa, and I bet I can indvsome fresh ones now????
